The Chicago District invited members to celebrate the holidays by sharing their favorite holiday memory with the group. Due to the pandemic, the annual in-person Christmas parties for both the Senior and Junior Branch members were cancelled, and this new sharing allowed members to continue to celebrate with their fraternal family.
The Chicago District went virtual in 2020 by instituting a series of virtual sales and business meetings and activities. With the majority of in person events and meetings cancelled due to the pandemic, we needed to look for new alternatives to connect with members.
On Sunday March 1, 2020, members from the Anna Hurban Chicago District were blessed to attend the Passion of the Christ at Sacred Heart Parish in Palos Hills, Il. The Passion of the Christ is a live musical presentation performed by Wierczernik, a Polish non-profit theatrical organization led by Ms. Cecylia Jablinska. Continue reading

The Anna Hurban District of Chicago welcomed in the holiday season with the combined annual Senior Branches Christmas Party on December 7, 2019, and invited our members and their guests to participate in a “Split the Pot” Matching Funds Raffle. The matching funds raised were a combination of proceeds from a “Split the Pot Cash Raffle,” as well as cash donations made by our members to support our sponsored charity, South Suburban Family Shelter.
The FCSLA Chicago Junior Branches and District kicked off their holiday season by co-sponsoring their ninth annual Junior Member Christmas Party on Sunday, November 10, 2019. On November 10, 2019, the weather cooperated by giving us a clear but unseasonably cold day as we welcomed almost 70 district members, with an equal number of adults and children taking part in the day’s festivities. Early Saturday morning, June 1, 2019, members of the Anna Hurban District of Chicago joined close to 3,000 enthusiastic walkers at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois, for the annual “Walk to defeat ALS.” The walk is organized annually by the ALS Association of Greater Chicago to raise funds and awareness for the care, advocacy, research and education about this debilitating disease.
