Senior Branch 88 - Monessen Public Library Birthday Celebration
On August 22, 2009, FCSLA Branch 88 Officers and the Monessen Public Library
Board of Directors coordinated a 50th birthday celebration for the library.
The Monessen Public Library is in need of operating funds due to the delay
of state funding. Invitations were sent out to local business and prominent
people inviting them to the celebration. Approximately 3,000 library card holders
and employees attended the event. The FCSLA Branch donated sheet cakes, distributed
favors and provided games for the attendees. The event raised $1,900 to benefit
the library.
