New Branch Opens in Sandusky, Michigan!

Written by: Kelly Shedlock, Fraternal & Youth Director

Congratulations to FCSLA's newest branch S-629 in Sandusky, MI! On June 5th they became official with a dinner held at Woodland Hills Golf Club & Restaurant.

For those of you who are unfamiliar Sandusky, Mi is about 2 hour drive north of Detroit, MI and approximately a 5 hour drive from Cleveland, OH. After checking into flights I decided I could get there faster by car. I would not have to deal with TSA, layovers and changing planes.

I am so glad I decided to drive. I took my mom, Barb Shedlock (who also works at the home office as the receptionist) along with me. She kept me company along with my lady Garmin, who only "re-calculated" a few times along the way. We enjoyed the sights as we drove through some small very quaint towns that are well maintained, have adorable houses with lots of flowers and beautiful yards, horses, cows and farmland.

We arrived at the Woodland Hills Golf Club to set up and were greeted by Jessica & Lucy. They were absolutely awesome to work with!

One by one members arrived, as did one of the new branch officers Coleen Tyack (unfortunately Denise Strong had an emergency and could not attend). Two out of the three hard working agents who made the opening of this new branch possible Jerry Hillaker & Todd Porrett (Harry Krul was unable to attend) were also in attendance. I was able to meet each and every one that came to the dinner! Considering my mom and I are Indians fans and we were in Tiger country, they were all very friendly, happy and excited to be part of the branch opening celebration.

The evening began with prayer, followed by dinner and a fun yet informative presentation including a short video about "what is a fraternal benefit society" and a Power Point video showing FCSLA's Vision & Mission, photos and facts to help the branch begin their journey into the world of fraternalism.

There were no objections with the nominations of Denise Strong & Coleen Tyack as branch officers. Coleen said a few welcoming words to her new branch! She is very excited along with Denise to be the first branch officers of S-629. Thank you to the both of you, your branch is lucky to have you!

The evening concluded with a raffle of various prizes. FCSLA is pleased to welcome Branch S-629 FCSLA Family!
