Slovak-American Cookbook

Sample Recipe

Chicken Paprikas
- Mary Janovcik, Cleveland, Ohio

  • 4 pounds chicken
  • 1 Tsp. butter
  • 1 Tsp. sweet paprika
  • sprinkle of sharp cayenne pepper
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 point sour cream
  • 1 Tsp. flour
  • salt to taste

Take the butter and onion and set on medium flame to brown a little, add the sweet paprika and dash of cayenne pepper, then add cut-up chicken in small portions and stew slowly till well done.

Then take one pint sour cream, mix in 1 Tsp. flour and stir into chicken when done. Do not boil, just stir lightly and simmer slowly until it thickens slightly.
