Fraternalist of the Year - 2012

The First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association is proud to announce the selection of Rosemary T. Gay from Kansas City, KS as our association's 2012 Fraternalist of the Year. Her profile has been sent to the American Fraternal Alliance to be considered for national recognition. The 2012 American Fraternal Alliance’s Fraternalist of the Year Award will be announced and honored at the 126th Annual Meeting to be held in New Orleans, LA in September.

Rosemary is a widow with three grown daughters. She has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who are all members of Branch S-211 or J-176. She is very committed to her FCSLA Senior Branch and volunteers tirelessly. She encourages her family to participate in all FCSLA activities. She also encourages them to volunteer at their church and in their community.

Rosemary assists the Junior Branch Officers preparing activities for the younger members.

Rosemary volunteers for many charitable and benevolent causes in her community. She is a lifelong member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Slovak Catholic Church where she serves as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She visits the sick and distributes communion to parishioners who are home bound, in the hospital or nursing homes.

Rosemary volunteers at the Strawberry Hill Museum. She promotes the Slovak Heritage along with explaining the culture and customs in many programs.

Recently Rosemary received a grant from the Kansas University to further her studies in the Slovak Institute in Bratislava.

Rosemary was nominated by her Branch S-211, Secretary Theresa Planac who describes Rosemary as a person most deserving of this award.

FCSLA congratulates Rosemary T. Gay for receiving this well deserved recognition. She is a wonderful example of our “fraternal spirit” as she continues to make a difference in her family, the FCSLA, church and community. We are very proud to have Rosemary represent us as our “2012 Fraternalist of the Year”.
